Each year on April 24th, World ????????? ????????? ??? is celebrated to promote the awareness of Corrosion-related issues in our World and make these known by larger people.
A little history
Corrosion Awareness Day has been launched by the World Corrosion Organization (WCO) -which is basically an umbrella organization of corrosion-related societies worldwide – in 2010 in order to promote awareness of societal issues related to corrosion and mobilize the main actors. In 2020, this Awareness Day has been scheduled for April 24th.
Why established?
Since our world is degrading quite fastly due to environmental and human-made factors, each year we are losing a tremendous amount of resources and money because of CORROSION. In fact, the global cost of corrosion is estimated to be US$2.5 trillion, which is equivalent to 3.4% of the global GDP. (See the NACE Intenational IMPACT Study)
What to do?
Corrosion Awareness Day can be seen as an opportunity for corrosion and coatings industry professionals worldwide to inform business leaders, government officials, and the public about the effects of corrosion on people, assets, and the environment, and what can be done to mitigate and control it.
During Corrosion Awareness Day, you may find numerous opportunities from the major professional Corrosion association worldwide. You can reach these associations from the link below:
